General information
Horizontal Rotary Gate Valves
Horizontal rotary gate valves are installed underneath silos to discharge bulk material like pulverized coal, gypsum or saw dust in defined quantities per time unit.We are proud of our horizontal rotary gate valves. They are designed and manufactured using the know-how gained over many years, and are built in a way your technicians would like it. As machines only earn money as long as they are running, we not only use the best suitable material, but we also use more of it than usual. Housing, impeller, cover and base plates are made of nitrated 42CrMo4 steel, in case of special requirements it may also be chrome-plated or stainless steel. In the exceptional case that your discharge material is not abrasive, we could also supply in regular steel (St 52.3).
Rotary valves are available as discharge-type(HZAP)or as blow-type (HZDP), but exclusively in horizontal version.
As our rotary valves weigh more than you would think, the bigger ones are always supplied with a mounting and dismantling stand.
To increase the operational reliability, they are equipped with various sockets for compressed air supply, for bypass lines, for scavenge line and for leak air line.
With a maximum operating pressure of 5 bar - the design is for 10 bar short-time pressure - and a material temperature of up to 100°C, our rotary valves discharge between 20 kg and 40 tons per hour, depending on their size and the specific material weight. In case of higher temperatures, we would have to know about this; we have built rotary valves for temperatures up to 300°C.
Besides the size of the rotary gate, there are of course other criteria influencing the discharge weight per time unit, such as the specific weight, the rotational speed of the impeller allowed by the discharge material properties, and the filling degree of each cell of the impeller.
Caused by experience, in our offers we always assume a filling degree of 70% only; but for comparison purposes, in the technical data we have given the discharge quantity also for 100%.
As maximum rotational speed for the bigger rotary valves, we have given the rpm resulting from the circumferential speed of 1 m/sec which has proven to be the critical speed for most materials, as regular rotational speed just 0,7 m/sec.
